Mark E. Holtz Named Senior V.P. of Operations at LVH-Muhlenberg

Lehigh Valley, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2006) – Mark E. Holtz has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice President of Operations at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg (LVH-Muhlenberg).

Holtz succeeds Stuart Paxton in the position. Paxton, who has been with LVH for 24 years, was recently named Chief Operating Officer for Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN), succeeding Lou Liebhaber, who resigned last week.

Holtz joined LVH in 1999 as Vice President of Operations. He was named Senior Vice President of Operations in 2004.

“Mark is already so closely involved in LVH-Muhlenberg’s day-to-day management and operations that this feels like a very natural succession,” Paxton said.

“Mark’s experience establishes continuity in the operations function, as LVH-Muhlenberg continues to seek new efficiencies and provide the community with a high standard of care,” said Elliot Sussman, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network.

“Mark has had a big impact on improving employee satisfaction and on the efficiency of the operating rooms, as well as on initiatives to improve patient access,” added Paxton.

Holtz serves on LVH-Muhlenberg’s Medical Advisory Committee and is well known to the physicians who practice there. He also serves on the Patient Satisfaction Improvement Council.

He serves on several community organizations, and is President-Elect of the Minsi Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Holtz and his family live in Orefield, Pa.
